Social Skills Group

Our Social Skills Group provides a structured peer environment needed to build meaningful friendships, develop emotional regulation, and strengthen teamwork skills for school and community life. It is ideal for learners who have foundational communication skills and are ready to practice interacting with peers in a supportive setting. This collaborative environment allows our clinical team to assess social dynamics and develop customized group and individual goals.

• Building Meaningful Friendships: Struggling to start conversations, join in play, or maintain friendships.
• Conversational Skills: Difficulty with back-and-forth talking, staying on topic, or listening to others.
• Cooperative Play & Teamwork: Finding it hard to share, take turns, lose a game gracefully, or follow group rules.
• Understanding Social Cues: Difficulty reading body language, facial expressions, or personal space boundaries.
• Emotional Regulation: Struggling to manage frustration, express feelings calmly, or resolve peer conflicts.

• Social Interaction: Initiating, maintaining, and closing positive interactions with peers.
• Perspective Taking: Understanding other people's feelings, thoughts, and points of view.
• Group Cooperation: Following group instructions, participating in team activities, and collaborating on projects.
• Problem Solving: Navigating peer conflicts, compromising, and handling changes in social situations.
• Community & School Readiness: Practicing classroom expectations, assembly routines, and public social safety.

• Children and teens aged 4–16 
• Able to follow simple instructions and express their needs 
• Able to use the washroom independently
• Can be safely supported in a small group setting without aggressive behaviours
